It's always a highly anticipated event at Miriam Lord Primary School - The World Book Day Quiz! This year we had a tie between Hockney and Lister in what was a closely fought contest! It was wonderful to see our Key Stage One pupils getting involved and sharing their book knowledge. If you want to be a winner next year then make sure you are reading as many books as you can this year.
It has felt like a long project, but our Resourced Provision building is completed and open for learning. We are delighted with the final building and think it will be the perfect space for us to provide high quality support and learning to those who access our provision.
Our Nursery children have been reading the story 'Owl Babies'. What better way to learn more about owls than to have them visit us in school. They are beautiful creatures and we loved seeing them. Some of us were even brave enough to hold one.
Our wonderful Deputy Headteacher, Mr Young, has outdone himself this year with our Christmas decorations. It really is down to his hard work and effort that allows us to enjoy a Harry Potter themed Christmas this year. The children have loved how it looks so far and this is not the end of it yet. Next Wednesday we will be bring classes up to the Hall to help decorate our Christmas Tree.
Our new Art Gallery is really taking shape in the Hall. Just a few finishing touches are needed and then we can start displaying the work of our talented artists throughout school. We will be sharing these and talking about them in weekly celebration assemblies.
We love Bonfire Night in EYFS. We have been learning all about Guy Fawkes and the things he tried to do to King James. We have celebrated by having our own bonfire, watching fireworks and toasting marshmallows.
Our Reading Buddies are working hard at the moment. We have paired up our Year Five pupils with our Nursery children and they are working them to develop great reading habits. This is a fantastic way for our older pupils to develop their skills as role models.
We are so exciting to be part of the JU:MP Programme for 2021-22. We hope that we get to work with lots of other schools to make us more physically active in school and to promote a heathy lifestyle. The first stage is for our children in Year 1, 2 and 3 to be monitored a for a week so we can find out how active we are. This information will be like a science experiment and we get to be scientists. The assembly has got us all fired up to start on our journeys to living a healthier life.
