Welcome To Our School

Miriam Lord Primary School is a two-form entry school located in the heart of Manningham in Bradford.  We are a proud member of the Priestley Academy Trust and work alongside our trust colleagues and five other schools to ensure our pupils get the best and achieve the highest outcomes.  Our motto in PAT is 'Be The Change' and we use these words to guide our practice and collective decision making.

Whilst we are also proud of our school and our achievements, we recognise that our journey is never at end and we continue to work hard every day to make the improvements needed to be the best that we can be.  At Miriam Lord we have a dedicated team of staff and governors who show commitment and desire in ensuring that the pupils at the school achieve the highest outcomes.

One of the features of our school is that our pupils demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning and their learning behaviours contribute to their educational achievement.  Our school is a proud believer in 'Building Learning Power' and uses this ethos to support pupils to become independent learners who show high levels of resilience in the face of challenge.  They are supported by a rich curriculum that promotes the development of core skills and provides enrichment, breadth and balance.  We provide our pupils with a strong foundation, so that they are able to tackle the next stage in their education or employment with confidence.

We recognise that to succeed in providing the highest standard of education, we must work in close partnership with our parents and carers.  The relationship between home and school is important to us and we value highly the feedback we get from our families, as well a the contributions that parents and carers make to school life.  Without these contributions, Miriam Lord could not be the success it is.

At Miriam Lord Primary School we are committed to safeguarding all members of our community and this work is of the highest priority in school to ensure that we provide a safe environment in which children can learn. Furthermore, provision for children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is at the centre of all we do as is promoting British Values.

Our Vision and Values

At Miriam Lord Primary School, we take our aims and our vision seriously.  In creating our vision we have worked alongside staff, governors, parents and children to create a statement that we think is simple, and reflects our aims for the school.  We return to this vision regularly to see if it still reflects our ultimate aims, or to see if our key priorities have changed.

We wanted a vision statement that is short, memorable and reflects our high ambition for the pupils at Miriam Lord:  At Miriam Lord we aim to create an environment where every single child embraces learning and achieves the highest outcomes.  We want to inspire pupils to enjoy learning, feel successful in whatever they do and have the skills needed to face any challenge.

Our curriculum is ambitious and driven by the need to prepare pupils to become successful life-long learners.  Central to this is our drive to instil a love of reading, books and literature into all pupils so that they are able to access the opportunities life will present them with.  We want to develop learners who are inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions and who challenge knowledge.

Through our curriculum we aim to develop the essential knowledge, skills and understanding that are the building blocks for later life; an important aspect of this is identifying pupils’ talents and seizing opportunities to develop these further.  We know the importance of language and want to develop pupils who have the vocabulary and social skills to interact effectively.
