The EYFS framework is structured differently to the national curriculum as it is organised across seven strands of learning rather than subject areas. The documents below will make clear how the skills taught in the EYFS curriculum feed into the national curriculum and the end of year outcome for children leaving Nursery. Throughout every strand communication and language is at the heart alongside developing children’s characteristics of learning through a mixture of play, adult or child led interactions and direct teaching.
